Allen & Heath Qu Series : Accessible 96 kHz Digital Mixing

The latest generation of Allen & Heath Qu digital mixers significantly expands the capabilities of the original Qu platform.

The current family consists of three console sizes :

• Qu-5 / Qu-5D
• Qu-6 / Qu-6D
• Qu-7 / Qu-7D

All three use the same 96 kHz XCVI processing core, providing 32 mono input channels plus 3 stereo channels, 12 mixes, 4 matrices and 6 FX engines.

The main difference between the consoles is their physical size and local I/O.

SQ+ retains the proven 48-channel, 96 kHz XCVI architecture while introducing additional processing power and an updated control interface.

The new models feature a larger 9-inch touchscreen, enhanced DEEP Processing capability and four RackUltra FX engines in addition to eight RackExtra FX engines.

This makes SQ+ particularly attractive to engineers who want sophisticated onboard processing without moving to a larger Avantis or dLive system.

Unlike a conventional digital console where processing and control are housed within the same desk, dLive uses a distributed mixing architecture. The processing engine lives inside a dLive MixRack, while the physical console acts as a control surface.
