L-Acoustics L Series : The New Generation of Line Source Technology
With L Series, L-Acoustics has introduced a new generation of large-format line source systems. The range began with L2 and L2D, based on the company's Progressive Ultra-Dense Line Source (PULS) technology. Instead of constructing an array from a large number of individual cabinets with mechanically adjustable inter-element angles, an L Series element integrates multiple transducers and predefined progressive curvature into a single enclosure.
The result is extremely high power density, predictable coverage and a significant reduction in system size, weight and deployment complexity.In 2026, L-Acoustics expanded this concept with L1, designed for the world's largest concert productions, arenas, festivals and stadium applications.
L1 represents the latest evolution of the line source philosophy that began with V-DOSC more than three decades ago.
L-Acoustics K Series : The Touring Line Array Reference
The L-Acoustics K Series is designed for applications requiring high output, extended throw and precise control of large audience areas.
The range includes systems such as K1, K2, K3 and KARA II, allowing sound designers to build scalable systems for everything from theatres and corporate events to international touring productions, festivals and stadium shows.
K Series systems combine L-Acoustics Wavefront Sculpture Technology with advanced technologies such as Panflex, which enables adjustable horizontal directivity on compatible models. This gives system designers greater control over audience coverage while reducing unnecessary acoustic energy outside the listening area.
K1 is one of the industry's established references for large-format touring and stadium applications, while K2 combines high output with flexible horizontal directivity. K3 brings full-range line source performance to a more compact format, and KARA II provides a versatile solution for medium- to large-scale applications.
L-Acoustics A Series : Flexible Constant Curvature Line Source
The L-Acoustics A Series introduces a highly flexible approach to line source deployment.
Models such as A10 and A15, available in Focus and Wide configurations, use a constant curvature line source design. Systems can be deployed individually or combined vertically and horizontally according to the required audience geometry.
This modular approach makes A Series particularly suitable for rental companies, live venues, theatres, corporate events and installations requiring a powerful yet compact professional sound system.
A Series bridges the gap between traditional point-source loudspeakers and larger variable-curvature line arrays, providing many of the benefits of L-Acoustics line source technology in a simple, scalable format.
The Pioneer of the Modern Line Array
L-Acoustics played a defining role in the development of the modern line array. In 1992, company founder and physicist Dr. Christian Heil introduced Wavefront Sculpture Technology (WST) and the legendary V-DOSC system, the world's first modern full-band coherent line array.
The principle behind WST is to make multiple loudspeaker elements work together as a coherent line source rather than as a collection of independent speakers. By controlling the interaction between individual elements, a correctly designed L-Acoustics array creates a predictable wavefront with highly controlled vertical directivity, consistent frequency response and remarkably even sound distribution over distance.
This technological breakthrough fundamentally changed large-scale sound reinforcement and established many of the principles still used in professional line array systems today.
At the heart of the original V-DOSC design was the patented DOSC waveguide, allowing high-frequency sections from multiple enclosures to couple coherently. Wavefront Sculpture Technology has since evolved across successive generations of L-Acoustics loudspeakers and remains a fundamental part of the brand's line source philosophy.
