The L-Acoustics L2 is a groundbreaking professional line source loudspeaker designed for medium to large-scale live events, concert halls, theatres, arenas and premium fixed installations. Part of the innovative L-Acoustics L Series, L2 introduces a new approach to line array technology with Progressive Ultra-Dense Line Source (PULS) architecture, combining exceptional output, precise directivity control and remarkably compact dimensions.
Building on more than three decades of L-Acoustics expertise in line source technology, the L2 brings together Wavefront Sculpture Technology (WST), DOSC, Panflex, L-Vents and integrated cardioid technology within a highly integrated 16-channel active enclosure.

A New Generation of L-Acoustics Line Array Technology
Traditional line array systems create their vertical coverage by combining numerous individual loudspeaker cabinets, each mechanically angled relative to the next.
The L-Acoustics L2 takes a fundamentally different approach.
Its Progressive Ultra-Dense Line Source technology integrates multiple acoustic modules within a single enclosure, creating a predefined progressive curvature without requiring the large number of individual elements traditionally associated with a long-throw line array.
This ultra-dense architecture allows L2 to deliver impressive acoustic performance from a compact physical footprint, while reducing the number of mechanical connections and simplifying system deployment.

Exceptional Output from a Compact Line Source
Despite its compact format, the L-Acoustics L2 line source delivers a maximum SPL of up to 155 dB and a usable frequency response from 45 Hz to 20 kHz.
Each L2 enclosure integrates an impressive transducer complement :

- 8 × 10-inch neodymium cone drivers
- 8 × 3-inch neodymium compression drivers

Progressive Ultra-Dense Line Source : PULS

The L2 provides 10° of progressive vertical directivity per element, allowing multiple L2 enclosures to be combined when additional vertical coverage or throw is required. This approach provides the sonic coherence expected from an L-Acoustics line source while significantly increasing the density of acoustic sources within a reduced physical footprint.
The result is a system offering outstanding performance in terms of SPL per metre, SPL per kilogram and SPL per square metre.
Integrated Cardioid for Greater Acoustic Control
One of the major innovations of the L-Acoustics L Series is its native integrated cardioid behaviour.
Controlling low-frequency energy behind a traditional line array often requires additional loudspeakers, specific array configurations or separate processing strategies. With L2, rear rejection is integrated into the acoustic architecture of the system.
This helps reduce unwanted energy behind the loudspeaker system, contributing to a cleaner stage environment and improved control of sound propagation into neighbouring or unwanted areas.

Panflex Adjustable Horizontal Directivity

16-Channel Active Architecture with LA7.16
L2 is a 16-channel active loudspeaker system designed to operate with the L-Acoustics LA7.16 or LA7.16i amplified controllers. This high level of amplification and processing granularity gives the system precise control over the individual acoustic sections within each enclosure.
The interaction between L2 and the LA7.16 platform enables L-Acoustics to optimise the behaviour of the complete loudspeaker system rather than treating the enclosure as a conventional passive or multi-way cabinet.
For system designers and operators, this creates a tightly integrated ecosystem in which loudspeaker, amplification, DSP and prediction tools are engineered to work together.
L2 and L2D : A Complete L Series System
The L2 works alongside the L-Acoustics L2D, its complementary downfill element.
While L2 provides 10° progressive vertical directivity optimised for long-throw applications, L2D extends vertical coverage to 60°, making it particularly suitable for covering audience areas located closer to the array.
Combining L2 and L2D allows sound designers to create compact L Series arrays capable of covering both long-distance and near-field audience areas with a high degree of consistency.
This modular approach makes the L2 platform suitable for touring productions as well as permanent installations where precise acoustic coverage and minimal visual impact are essential.

The project presented a particularly demanding challenge. The historic Henry Le Bœuf Hall combines prestigious architecture with complex acoustics and hosts an exceptionally diverse programme of amplified performances.
Instead of implementing a conventional left-right sound reinforcement system, the installation uses L-ISA spatial audio technology to create a more natural frontal soundscape and provide precise sound localisation throughout the audience.
