Allen & Heath DX168 is a 96 kHz remote audio expander for compatible Allen & Heath systems. It places microphone inputs and line outputs away from the mixer or processor.

Audio inputs: 16 mic/line inputs provide connections for the sources on XLR sockets.
Outputs: 8 line outputs provide feeds to the rest of the audio system.
Connectivity: The DX audio link requires a compatible host connection; it is not a general-purpose Ethernet audio interface.
Format: A portable stagebox format suits sources and monitor connections around the performance area.

Working with the Allen & Heath DX168

Place remote I/O near the performers while keeping the mixing position where the engineer needs it. Consider the stagebox as part of a complete input, output and cabling plan.

Check the connection to your host

Confirm the host port and the supported connection topology before specifying the expander. DX and GX equipment belongs to particular Allen & Heath audio-link arrangements, not an arbitrary Ethernet network. On AHM systems, the available ports depend on the processor and any fitted option card.

Put the connections in the right place

Choose a stage position that keeps the analogue cable runs manageable without obstructing access. Label the return feeds as carefully as the inputs, especially when they connect to monitor equipment. Check the host patch and the stage labels together before the performance begins.
